Up to 50% of the world’s food is being thrown away and each tonne of food waste costs a business £1,800. Unilever Food Solutions wanted to get chefs to take an active part in improving their waste management for the benefit of the global population and to reduce their business expenses.
Primary research demonstrated that the one constant media channel for chefs was their mobile phone. To ensure ease, relevance and regularity of use it was decided that a waste reduction app was the best method forward. The app helps chefs to identify their current waste levels via a waste tracker, understand where and when they are generating most of their waste and how to combat those problem areas through practical tips and downloads.
